Ed Smelko is in his 5th year as a first-year beekeeper.  He has given talks on Bee Nutrition, Swarm Management and Drone Trapping to the Boulder County Beekeepers Association and the Northern Colorado Beekeepers Association.  For the last three years he has presented the beekeeping equipment section for the NCBA beginning beekeeping class.  In addition to the BCBA and NCBA, Ed is active in the Mountain High Beekeepers Coop and the Colorado State Beekeepers Association.  He is currently maintaining seven colonies divided between two locations.

August 16th Dan Finerty Introduction to Mead Making

Mead, a fermented drink made from honey – is found in the histories of many ancient cultures. Often considered the oldest alcoholic beverage, this wonderful drink can easily be made at home with a few simple pieces of equipment, a little know-how, and a good source of honey. Join Dan Finerty as he shares the basics of home mead making, along with a few tips and tricks he has picked up over ten years of home brewing meads, wines, beers, and ciders.
